Do-It-Yourself Coffin Kits

If the cost of funerals has you down, consider building your own coffin. CoffinKits.com sells a simple pine coffin kit for $795. Though that seems like a lot to me. Surely it wouldn't cost more than $50 to get some plywood from Home Depot and make something entirely from scratch.

For the furry and feathered members of your family, there are options as well, such as the Farewell Burial Coffin Kit. Just the right size for your hamster, budgie or gerbil.

I don't know if you could build one for $50 but you could build one for alot less than $795.

For your small pets, a coffee tin, shoe box or any other small container would work just as well and would probably be something that you might have laying around anyway.

How about a hot fire and a strong wind? Use the fire for a/the BBQ at the wake.

Agreed. I figure about $200 in these parts. Burn me. My favorite surf break gets the debris. Dude.

I'm sure I could build a coffin for under $50. Lots of home improvement stores and lumber yards sell sub grade timber at big discounts, and if you're doin' it yerself, aesthetics are propbably not the biggest concern. On a separate note, a locat funeral home in my neck of the woods sells custom orange and blue UF themed coffins for $6000, so $795 seems like a steal by comparison.

What about a refrigerator box? It's free, and biodegradable.

I want to be cremated and have my ashes spread over Raymond James Stadium. And not because I am a Bucs fan.

My dad on the other hand swears up and down we are to put him in a garbage out by the road for the trash men to pick up.
