Although I wouldn't be able to "wear" one of these, it must be one of the creepiest things I can remember seeing. In case you want to see similar things:

My guess was one of those buttons used to hold a doily or other fabric on the arm of a chair or sofa.

Either that's a very close-up photograph, or this thing is a lot larger than it needs, or indeed ought, to be.
