I prefer the all-girl orchestra in Cabaret. They were all virgins, if you recall.

Apparently all-girl bands became prevalent when male musicians were drafted during WW2. From this film of Ada Leonard looking pretty and randomly twirling her baton, it's hard to see what her role in the orchestra was.
