I remember a proposal, it was Jerry Pournelle, I think, that all circulating currency be made of mildly radioactive materials. This would have the effect of keeping the currency constantly circulating and no one would be able to accumulate large amounts due to the adverse health effects.

I'm not sure about this becoming allergic to yourself, but if it was presented at the College of Medical Evangelists -- Lordy, Lordy, it's gotta be true.
