poor wayne. but it sucks being the oldest too. mom blamed me for every stupid idea my sisters came up with. i wasn't watching them like i should have or whatever. we all have our childhood scars you know. 😉
on the tv, i like the drawer for the remote when the tv is off. that's a good idea. i didn't know remotes went that far back and my dad had a tv repair business in the early '70's.

This is incredible. Remote controls have been around almost as long as TVs have, but you had to choose between a bulky wire or basic controls. Most wireless remotes used tuning forks that the television could hear, but since each button had a specific pitch and they all had to be above the human hearing range, this meant that most remotes could only control the channel and volume, and even then they only cycled through presets, not up and down. It wasn't until infrared remotes started appearing in the late 1970s that you had real control over the TV. I can only imagine that this TV uses RF signals, which are only now becoming common, in wireless video game controllers (so that you don't have to point the controller at the screen). I don't really like the looks of this TV (though it is still better than anything they make today), but I want it...

The remote standing beside the set looks like it could work. And if you know where all it's buttons are it probably has more functions that that little box they're so proud of.

So how come remotes of the 60's fit inside the TV, but remotes nowadays seem to fit only between the couch cushions? 😖

Ours fits my hand just fine!

But, seriously, just how much surfing could you do with 3 channels?
