What is this thing intended for? Hint: even though it would have had more widespread use a century ago, it could still be useful today.

I swear that I haven't looked at the answer. It resembles an air pump with that hose like appendage. My guess is a blower to help start the fire in a home heating furnace.

I thought, maybe, a stomach (other end) pump....

Not even sure why this would be needed. What little we did we did by hand and it only took a few minutes.

My guess was pretty darned close, for once! Right idea, but for a much larger scale than I was thinking of.
