My father was a gospel singer and we knew the Goodmans and he sang at their church in Madisonville Kentucky a few times. Matching suits and big hair (Vestal was the undefeated champion in the big hair competition) were the fashion at that time. The quartet my father sang with had five or six different suits they would wear for "singings" sometimes changing between acts to impress the audience. Many years later we ran into a member of the group at a restuarant and he told us how those suits came in handy as burial suits for members of his family.

BooKoo years ago I bought the Time-Life set of Tennessee Ernie singing Gospel & every now and again I load it up and sing along.
