It may be weird, but not unusual. Snyder Memorial Baptist Church of Fayetteville, North Carolina does one of these every year in December. I saw it once. It is quite something. I am guessing some other large membership churches do a living Christmas tree also.

Van Nuys. I first heard of Van Nuys in a... very different context. Apparently, it is larger and more diverse than I first thought.
