I went down a Wikipedia rabbit hole with this. Utica Psychiatric Center (formerly Lunatic Asylum) to Clarissa Caldwell Lathrop to a book she wrote about her unjust incarceration therein. This sounds more interesting than The Opal. https://archive.org/details/39002086348324.med.yale.edu
