This TV theme song and imagery has stuck with me since childhood. It's undeniably powerful still, I think.

According to TV.com the 1st episode aired on May 23, 1965. I remember the broken sword but not much else as I left for the Navy and back in the day of wooden sailing ships of the line we didn't have TV piped on board.
