See, what you young whipper-snappers don't understand is that if her husband were to come home RIGHT AT THAT INSTANT he'd be extremely upset, and rightly so. First of all she'd not met him at the door. Furthermore she didn't have the obligatory drink waiting for him. And, only the good lord knows what his boss (that he brought to supper unannounced) is going to think.

Except for moving the switch the technology hasn't changed much since then. I had to replaced ours when my son dropped in a coin and jammed it.
