I wonder if being named Miss Gas-O-Rama doomed Bobbie Amos to a lifetime of flatulence jokes.

In the second newspaper clipping, it notes that one of the judges was Miss Merry Christmas of 1961. I did a newspapers.com search for that contest using Cocoa, Florida, as the location, and found many results. Most were in the early 60's, although there was one from 1947.

Also, there's a Miss NoNox in there, who could also have name problems.

Gulftane was a low octane gasoline (below 87), so Miss Gulftane might have been mocked as well.
