Perry Submarines

Hobbyist submarines are pretty oddball. (Not even getting into the territory of drug-smugglers with homemade subs.) Here's a forerunner from 1962.

Apparently the company is still going strong. Although they don't make subs anymore.

The restoration of one sub.

In 1968, Popular Mechanics showed plans for building your own sub. Sort of. It was open at the bottom, and you needed Scuba tanks (either in the 'sub' or worn) to provide air. Basically, it was the scooter version of a sub. I wanted one of those so bad!
