Flying Bike

I though that the memory is starting to play tricks and I've been trying to remember where I saw this before. Then it occurred to me that the U.S. Army tried the same concept contracted out to Piasecki Aircraft called the "Flying Jeep". This is just a scaled down version.

Before you get your hopes up, think about the efficiency of such a vehicle - it takes far more energy to take flight from one point to another than to travel the same distance along the ground. There is a reason why we don't have personal helicopters clogging the skies.

Nice idea but as a practical invention it really blows.

I was just there and am happy to report that the skies were 100% free of these machines.

Great till you run out of energy while in mid-flight.
