Ok... I'll agree with the theory but if milk was supposed to taste REALLY good who come is it that they remove several percent of what makes milk REALLY taste good.

And while we're on the subject.... 0% isn't MILK! it's WHEY and that dairy farmer got paid based on the cream content of the milk he sold to the dairy. So, next time you hit the supermarket and notice that 0% WHEY is selling for the same price as 3.25% (That ain't "whole milk" BTW) you'll know you're getting the short end of the stick.

Any of the cows that gave a cream content of only 3.25% back in the day were all called Hamburger.

And 'Half 'n Half' used to be, at least, 7% but I've noticed that it's down to 5% or so and whipping cream was 40% but, good luck finding that today.

I liked the animation with the way milk sloshed around in the cows. That was funny.

Expat, I consider myself lucky - the parents had us out of town on three acres which was enough to support a milk cow and a calf once a year for meat. We had that cow a long time and she was a great provider. The milk was left to stand in a cooler overnight and the cream skimmed off. Obviously that left a lot of butterfat still in suspension. I probably consumed more real cream in that milk in ten years then most people would in a lifetime. It's been thirty five years and I miss the pleasure of it.

I just HATE it when I reach for the milk in the fridge to pour it on my breakfast cereal, or to add it to my saucepan when I'm making my special brownies, and I find I don't have enough because I couldn't see how much was left in the bottle. :(

Cool Post, Paul! I liked the Photo-Realisim of the animation!

@ Expat, I agree completely! The farmer and consumer and the livestock get screwed, The middle men/Agribusiness laugh all the way to the bank! :coolmad:
@ tadchem I LOVE "SPECIAL" brownies too!

It has been a few years and I don't know the facts, but there was a court case. A grain farmer with a couple milk cows and a few beef cows was in trouble for selling whole milk to hie neighbours.

I grew up on a similar farm. I remember homemade ice cream made with REAL cream! 😊

I had raw milk from a local farm from time to time as a kid. It was the best! Unfortunately the danger of food born illness keeps most people from ever tasting truly whole milk.
