The Varitone Sax

A more-or-less failed and forgotten 1960s experiment in electrifying the saxophone.

Two good articles here and here.

Never cared for this horn as a stand-alone noise maker.

I think that the sax is a noble sounding instrument with plenty of range. Frank Zappa used it to good effect in many of his compositions.

However, there are some things that should not be "electrified". All I saw here was four and a half minutes of uninspired noodling.

No, I agree with KDP, some things shouldn't be electrified.

Electrical stimulation is fine and all, but not on my sax.
