Co-ed Pig Wrestling

As Mr. Skip Peterson tells us: "This is an annual fund raiser held in Buffalo, Wyoming, for a local gymnastics team. Contestants have one minute to get the greased hog, butt first into the barrel. The coed team must also dip their hands into a bucket of Crisco before the game begins. The winning time this year was 7.45 seconds. Every team had a freash pig and each pig was only allowed to participate one time. Enjoy!"

it doesn't appear that the pigs are harmed here. i look at it like tusseling with your dog, it's just playing. the pigs don't act traumatised after they are let out of the barrel, they just walk away. pigs can bite and be quite mean. they are omnivours, which means they eat meat and vegitation, so they have teeth capable of doing real damage. this tells me that these animals are used to people and don't feel threatened because they aren't attempting to hurt the 'wrestlers'. in short, yeah i'm an asshole.

You're kidding me? That's an actual pig. I thought these were people trying to wrangle an ex-girlfriend of mine. That wasn't her in the barrel? 😏

Ok you city-slickers, greased pig contests are about as old as lard and pigs. Usually it's shaots vs. 4H kids but this contest works just as well.

As far as the pig not being able to defend itself, "Sombody", you've never seen just how bad a pig bite can be. Think of "wild boar" then take off the tusks (leave the teeth) and apply to pig. Pigs are smart and know when they're in real danger.

And, anyhow, who ever heard of something being as slippery as a greased dog?!?

What are shaots? I seriously have no idea what that is. Was that a typo?

Shoat = young, weaned pig

Ah, so it was both a term I was not familiar with and a typo. Thanks for the clarification Expat! 😉

On behalf of the 3 cats that permit me to live with them, we're not amused by the greased cats reference. Thin ice, Wenthral, thin ice .. :shut:
