Follies of the Mad Men #61

Oh, yeah, a belt your Dad would wear back in 1971 could trigger all that groovy hippie stuff. Note the sign that uses Frank Zappa's name for cachet. Did he sue, I wonder?

I can get on with the belt but then a sweater and tie! No way!

I just never thought hippies were that concerned with their belts.

I thought everyone dressed that way in the 70's Maxx, not just hippies?

Hey Paul - how come your category is "Hippies and Slackers" - ya know not all hippies are slackers, dude!!

Jules, I was born in '70 so I am not the best resource for hippie info but this is not what hippies wore and actually it probably went against everything hippies stood for. This is an example of the man making money off of supposed hippie fashions.

He looks like a wannabe disco king wearing that polyester blue suit in the image. But what I can't get over is the phrase "A splash of buckle." How does one go about wearing a splash of buckle?

That comment reminded me of this video I saw awhile back. It looks like the man is drawing a penis but he turns it into something else every time. It's neato 😊

(the music is awful, sorry!)
