My pal Pete Kaplan stumbled across this one. Who knew that up in Cooperstown, NY, they had such pronounced Liverpudlian accents?

I'm betting I'm one of the only tourists who went to Cooperstown to see the Cardiff Giant rather than the Baseball Hall of Fame.

I suppose the syllables of many Western names sound like something ridiculous to the Chinese as well....

I recall reading that this poses a problem for translation of novels from English to Chinese, as the phonemes in the names of the characters might have associations in Chinese contrary to the character's nature.
